Mission: Engage, Connect and tap the talents and resources of students, alumni and friends towards building a strong global HUC
Community.
Background Information
In 1984 Hekima University College (HUC) was founded as a Jesuit School of Theology by the Jesuit Conference of Africa and Madagascar (JCAM) to serve the needs of the Society of Jesus in Africa in the formation of Jesuits for priesthood and to respond to the needs of the Church in an indigenous context of theology and to prepare people for Ministry in the Church.
In 1992, Hekima University College became a Constituent College of the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA). In response to the African continent’s dire need for peace and reflecting on the ever-escalating wars and conflicts, in 2004, HUC opened its second school, Hekima Institute of Peace Studies and International Relations (HIPSIR), which offers a Master of Arts degree and certificate courses. The institute encourages and promotes research on the dynamics of conflict situations, ongoing international and regional peace processes, refugees and displaced persons, and human rights issues.
To date, HUC has a many former graduates in theology, peace studies and international relations who have joined the world performing at different social, economic and political status across the globe. With this fact, Hekima University Alumni Association (HUCAA) exists to engage, connect and tap the talents and resources of students, alumni and friends towards building a strong global HUC community.
